Bingo: Sally Lindsay hopes for full house

Best known as Rover’s Return barmaid Shelley Unwin – Sally Lindsay will be hoping for another full house when she appears in the world premiere of the Neil Bartlett-directed theatrical extravaganza, Everyone Loves A Winner which will see the Royal Exchange’s auditorium transformed into a online bingo hall from Wednesday 1 July to Saturday 1 August.

Under the banner of The Guest List, the Royal Exchange is offering a total of 100 free season tickets per season to under-26-year-olds for the next two years. The 100 winners have been randomly selected from nearly 3,000 applicants who registered online to be entered in the first draw. All the winning names will be posted on the Royal Exchange website by the end of the week.

Friday’s draw for The Guest List was part of the launch week for A Night Less Ordinary - the Arts Council England scheme, supported by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, to get more young people into theatres across the country. The £2.5 million scheme will provide 618,000 free theatre tickets to anyone under 26 in more than 200 venues across England, between February 2009 and March 2011.

The Exchange marked the start of its involvement with a series of workshops and backstage tours and an offer of 50 free tickets every night for young theatre-goers to see the highly acclaimed Brad Fraser play True Love Lies.

The two other strands of the RET’s involvement are The Friday Fifty - which will offer up to 50 seats for each Friday night on a first-come, first-served basis and will be marketed to young workers in the city centre and The First Stage - which will give away an average of 20 to 30 tickets each week, targeting first time and hard to reach groups and individuals through the RET’s Education Department.
